  • Centre for Dispute Resolution - Independent, non-profit organisation which encourages, develops and provides mediation and dispute resolution in commercial and public sector disputes and civil litigation.
  • Chartered Institute of Arbitrators - Includes details of over seventy consumer dispute resolution procedures, mainly arbitration schemes, for a wide variety of bodies.
  • Disability Conciliation Service - Independent conciliation service provided for disabled people and goods and service providers.
  • Just Mediation - Promotes and facilitates mediation and can provide mediators.
  • Mediation Northern Ireland - Organisation providing an independent centre of excellence in mediation and other methods of conflict resolution in Northern Ireland.
  • Mediation UK - National voluntary organisation dedicated to developing constructive means of resolving conflicts in communities, including details of local mediation services throughout the UK.
  • Scottish Legal Complaints Commission - The Commission was set up to investigate complaints made by members of the public about services provided by legal practitioners in Scotland. It operates wholly independently of the legal profession and will launch on the 1st of October 2008. The Commission cannot accept any complaints before that time, and so until then service complaints should be addressed to the relevant professional organisation.

  • Advicenow (Advice Services Alliance) - Independent, not-for-profit website providing accurate, up-to-date information on rights and legal issues.
  • Advice NI - Support network for free, independent advice centres; search facility for local advice centres in Northern Ireland.
  • Advice UK - Support network for free, independent advice centres; search facility for local advice centres.
  • Consumer Complaints - Free national online service for consumers to take complaints or request advice from their local Trading Standards Department.
  • Consumer Direct - Online and telephone advice and information service for consumers, supported by the Department of Trade and Industry.
  • Consumer Education, Wales - Consumer Council for Wales website providing consumer advice for Wales.
  • Consumer Line, Northern Ireland - Consumer Council for Northern Ireland website providing consumer advice for Northern Ireland.
  • Consumer Support Networks - Aimed at advice providers and other organisations who are involved in setting up and running Consumer Support Networks, in order to improve consumer access to expert, accurate and timely advice.
  • Econsumer - A joint effort of thirteen countries, providing general information on e-consumer protection and enabling consumers to register cross-border e-commerce complaints.

  • How to Complain - Independent website providing information and advice on making complaints to a wide range of organisations and providing online links to make a complaint.
  • National Consumer Council - An independent body set up to promote and safeguard the interests of consumers. There are separate, affiliated consumer councils for Northern Ireland (the General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland), Scotland (Scottish Consumer Council) and Wales (Welsh Consumer Council). They all provide links to sites which give consumer advice.
  • General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland - A statutory body whose aims are to promote and safeguard the interests of all consumers in Northern Ireland.
  • The Scottish Consumer Council - The SCC works to represent consumer interests to policy-makers, regulators and suppliers, researching the experiences of consumers and identifying ways in which the provision of goods and services can be improved for everyone.
  • The Welsh Consumer Council - Represents the interests of all consumers and provide workable solutions to the issues that affect them.
  • Your Rights ( Liberty Guide to Human Rights) - Provides an easily understood guide to the Human Rights Act 1998, written by lawyers but intended for people who have no specialist legal knowledge.

  • European Ombudsman - The European Ombudsman investigates complaints about maladministration in the institutions and bodies of the European Union.

  • Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council - The Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council keeps under review the administrative justice system as a whole with a view to making it accessible, fair and efficient.
